Midwest Area Executive Report

President’s Message

Hello everyone!

Well here it is, Easter Sunday, and we survived another family get together!  Due to a variety of health issues with my mother in law, we decided that it would be good if all of us could bring food to her small condo, and celebrate Easter together as a warm loving family.  Well, we did have the small condo thing going for us! It actually turned out very nice, and the little ones in the family entertained us from start to finish!

Easter break is over for some of you and for others it has just begun. From what I have learned, it does not matter if they are 2 or 22, it’s just different situations that our children put us through!

I have sent out some information to get all of you excited to join your fellow FSA/WASCOE members in Wausau on May 2nd and 3rd.  So far, I am being told that we could have a very good turn out again this year!  We move the convention around the State to make sure everyone has an opportunity to attend the WASCOE Convention and have a say in the direction of WASCOE! This is an employee owned Association, and all members have the right make this a Great Association for now and future generations that will follow us!  The room rates Jake Bourget was able to negotiate for us are phenomenal!  With cost no longer being an issue, you can say “Yes, I want to be a part of this, and my family will have a great time exploring all of the wonderful places the Wausau area has to offer!”

I have received a few calls concerning what WASCOE needs for scholarship items.  So far, I have to tell you that it looks like we have competition brewing between county offices on who can come up with the “Ultimate Package” for the WASCOE scholarship auction!  Each year it seems to get more and more competitive as offices are trying to out do one another! We have one of the most successful scholarship programs in the nation! Get together with everyone, and put together a winning combination!  Donating is fun, but it is equally as fun being there bidding on the items that you know are the deal of a life time! All proceeds go directly to the WASCOE Scholarship fund! I hope you can make it and have a blast with us!

The new Farm Bill is still in the negotiation stages.  I’ll talk about that when we know more.

The WASCOE Officers have been invited to meet with the State Committee and State Executive Director on April 8th.  As I mentioned earlier, we are meeting with them to share your ideas/concerns/suggestions. The WASCOE officers have received some very good items of interest so far. Please keep them coming! All we ask is that you have them to us by April 3rd or 4th so we can have a some time to find the procedure to support our position.

Please check out both the WASCOE (www.wiwascoe.org) and NASCOE (www.nascoe.org) web sites to make sure you are getting all of the benefits you are entitled to!

There are so many more items that I know you are interested in and I hope you will find them in the rest of this newsletter.  You can always call me or any Officer or Director with your questions.

I hope to see all of you in Wausau in May!

Tom Oasen, WASCOE President
