There are many bills before Congress at this time, but one of the most important issues is health care reform. CAPWIZ will be an important tool in monitoring and ensuring that our voices are heard, so be SURE to act on any alerts that you receive. Below is a list of the Current Bills before the Senate and House.

Senate: 'To amend the Social Security Act and the Internal Revenue Code of 1986 to assure comprehensive, affordable health insurance coverage for all Americans through an American Health Benefits Program. ' (H.R.2399)

Senate: 'To provide certain benefits to domestic partners of Federal employees. ' (H.R.2517)

Senate: 'To amend title 5, United States Code, to provide for the automatic enrollment of new participants in the Thrift Savings Plan, and to clarify the method for computing certain annuities based on part-time service; to allow certain employees of the District of Columbia to have certain periods of service credited for purposes relating to retirement eligibility; and for other purposes. ' (H.R.1263)

Senate: 'To amend title 5, United States Code, to make certain modifications in the Thrift Savings Plan, the Civil Service Retirement System, and the Federal Employees'' Retirement System, and for other purposes. ' (H.R.1804)

Senate: 'To provide that 4 of the 12 weeks of parental leave made available to a Federal employee shall be paid leave, and for other purposes. ' (H.R.626)

Senate: 'To amend the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970 to expand coverage under the Act, to increase protections for whistleblowers, to increase penalties for certain violators, and for other purposes. ' (H.R.2067)

Senate: 'To improve the lives of working families by providing family and medical need assistance, child care assistance, in-school and afterschool assistance, family care assistance, and encouraging the establishment of family-friendly workplaces. ' (H.R.3047)

Senate: 'To provide for livable wages for Federal Government workers and workers hired under Federal contracts. ' (H.R.1334)

Senate: 'To amend the Energy Employees Occupational Illness Compensation Program Act of 2000 to expand the category of individuals eligible for compensation, to improve the procedures for providing compensation, and to improve transparency, and for other purposes. ' (H.R.1828)

Senate: 'To provide special pays and allowances to certain members of the Armed Forces, expand concurrent receipt of military retirement and VA disability benefits to disabled military retirees, and for other purposes. ' (H.R.2990)

Senate: 'Making appropriations for the Departments of Labor, Health and Human Services, and Education, and related agencies for the fiscal year ending September 30, 2010, and for other purposes. ' (H.R.3293)

Senate: 'To provide Federal contracting preferences for, and a reduction in the rate of income tax imposed on, Patriot corporations, and for other purposes. ' (H.R.1874)

Senate: 'To expand access to preventive health care services that help reduce unintended pregnancy, reduce abortions, and improve access to women''s health care. ' (H.R.463)

Senate: 'To amend title 5, United States Code, to make unused sick leave creditable, for purposes of the Federal Employees'' Retirement System, in the same manner as provided for under the Civil Service Retirement System. ' (H.R.958)

Senate: 'To amend title 38, United States Code, to improve the enforcement of the Uniformed Services Employment and Reemployment Rights Act of 1994, and for other purposes. ' (H.R.1474)

Senate: 'To amend the Public Health Service Act, the Employee Retirement Income Security Act of 1974, the Internal Revenue Code of 1986, and title 5, United States Code, to require that group and individual health insurance coverage and group health plans and Federal employees health benefit plans provide coverage of colorectal cancer screening. ' (H.R.1330)

Senate: 'To amend the Social Security Act to enhance the social security of the Nation by ensuring adequate public-private infrastructure and to resolve to prevent, detect, treat, intervene in, and prosecute elder abuse, neglect, and exploitation, and for other purposes. ' (H.R.2006)

Senate: 'To provide for coverage of hormone replacement therapy for treatment of menopausal symptoms, and for coverage of an alternative therapy for hormone replacement therapy for such symptoms, under the Medicare and Medicaid Programs, group health plans and individual health insurance coverage, and other Federal health insurance programs. ' (H.R.584)

Senate: 'To amend the Robert T. Stafford Disaster Relief and Emergency Assistance Act to direct the Administrator of the Federal Emergency Management Agency to continue to administer the National Urban Search and Rescue Response System, and for other purposes. ' (H.R.706)

Senate: 'To reform Social Security retirement and Medicare by establishing a Personal Social Security Savings Program to create a safer, healthier, more secure, and more prosperous retirement for all Americans and to reduce the burden on young Americans. ' (H.R.107)
