As we approach the autumn season, our thoughts often turn towards harvest and the upcoming holidays.  Sometimes, unfortunately, the true meaning of the holidays gets lost in the shuffle of the hustle and bustle. Once in a while it is good to step back and take a deep breath and think about what this time of year means to you.  Yes, the harvest of crops is my first thought, and then I think of the upcoming work, from loans to potential LDP’s, workload, the disaster program, and even to the new farm bill programs.  I then have to admit, I too,  think about the holidays.

I would encourage everyone to consider all the people you work with each and every day.  What an outstanding group a folks we have out there really helping our farmers, our communities, and our WASCOE-NASCOE organization.  Actually it is a great time to be thinking of rewarding someone who has made an outstanding contribution in areas of NASCOE; FSA-Agriculture; or Community Service.  The award programs of WASCOE-NASCOE encourage recognition of members who make outstanding contributions in one of these areas.  Any member of the Association may make a nomination.  Only members of the association who are in good standing, who are serving under a permanent appointment, or who have voluntarily retired during the current year are eligible to receive these awards.

Nominations should be brief, factual and specific!  It cannot exceed two (2) double spaced typewritten 8 ½” X 11” pages, plus one cover sheet.  Specific examples and details should be given to support the nomination.

Submitting Nominations:

Mail the original nomination along with a cover sheet (available at NASCOE’s website www.nascoe.org) to Teresa Zimmer, P. O. Box 423, Monroe,WI  53566 before February 1st, 2008.

                       2008 “Nice Job” Awards

It is not too late to nominate a co-worker for the “Nice Job” Award. These nominations will be accepted until April 30, 2008.

I know there are many folks doing many good deeds at work, in their communities, and at home as well.  Sometimes it is very easy to over look these things and begin to take them for granted and as part of every day life.

Keep in mind, these do not have to be monumental tasks or deeds done, but often are the little actions or random acts of kindness that impact us in big ways.

The nomination process is very easy. All you have to do is write up who did what and send it in. Yes, really it is that easy. All entries will be published in the WASCOE newsletter. It would be helpful to identify the office where the individual is employed and the individual making the actual nomination. That is all that is needed. It is based on the Keep it Simple theory.

If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me at the Green County FSA Office (608) 325-4195) or at my home by telephone number (608) 328-1918.
